Tundra take down TI10 champions to claim OGA Dota PIT season 5 first place

Tundra became the first team to take down Team Spirit in a Bo5 after TI10, hence claming the champions of OGA Dota PIT season 5.

Eventhough being pushed to lower bracket by the TI10 champ themselves, Tundra made a remarkable run in lower-bracket as they took down Navi, Nigma, OG and Team Secret to face Team Spirit again in the grand final.

Grandfinal recap

Tundra opened the best-of-five series with a Lycan-Lina-Bloodseeker trio core and heavy on the healing department with Winter Wyvern and Io who were supposed to keep the snowball going. However, the first picks, Lycan-Io, revealed the plan from the start of the draft and Team Spirit countered it with strong control spells coming from Bane and Treant Protector in the support lines and a Night Stalker for Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov, whose mission was to provide the vision, the slow and the AOE silence to mess up Tundra’s team fights.

But despite reading Tundra perfectly in the opening game of the series, Team Spirit still got outmaneuvered through the next two games. The second draft of the night featured a Queen of Pain – Nyx Assassin duo that created a lot of chaos in team fights. But despite suffering from early deaths, Team Spirit were still able to find the farm and take a slight gold advantage.  Around the 30 minute mark, although behind on the kill score, they had about 4k gold lead and felt confident to enter the Roshan pit with Dragon Knight’s ultimate up. However, they got scouted and contested in the pit, Nyx’s Spiked Carapace along with QoP’s Sonic Wave allowing Tundra to steal the kill and the Aegis.

That marked the downfall for Team Spirit, who got team wiped, expended the buybacks and died back on key heroes, giving Tundra the opportunity to even the series. Headed into game three, Tundra opened the draft with Razor and Broodmother and ran over the TI10 champions, closing the game 24 to 8, taking the lead in the grand finals.

Brood became first ban material for game four, but Tundra had fist pick and reverted to the Queen of Pain-Nyx Assassin duo, to which they added a position 4 Death Prophet, an offlane Beastmaster and a carry Luna for maximum tower damage. The heavy push strat worked wonders as they carefully banned the Night Stalker that caused them problems in game one. Despite still having Bane and Treant Protector, to counter the fast pace, five man Dota imposed by Tundra, Spirit couldn’t stop the push power and had to admit defeat.
