Valve has rolled out the much anticipated Spring Cleaning, fixing a large number of gameplay, hero interaction, cosmetics and user interface bugs, but also adding plenty of quality of life improvements.
Aghanim's Shard & Scepter tooltips
Some of the most wanted fixes have been addressed with the 2022 Spring Cleaning, including the tooltips for Aghanim's Shards and Scepters. The improved tooltips now display the exact numbers that change when the items are equipped and the abilities that get modified by either the Shard or the Scepter now have a dedicated window.
Mute & report
Over the past year, Valve has tinkered with the mute option, requiring multiple clicks from a player to mute either their own team or the enemy one. Additionally, with just one click, players can now mute and at the same time report another player for its disruptive behavior.
According to Valve, with the updated mute system, the game developer is re-evaluating how to handle communication reports and aims to get better indicators of which players they might need to take stronger action on.
Shop search & item tooltip
An improved shop search feature makes it now easier for all those who struggle to remember the name of an item, or for those not entirely sure which items provide a certain attribute. Searching just for an attribute, such as “armor”, “haste”, “strength”, etc, the game will give a list of all items that have the said attribute.
Additionally, players can now see the exact numbers of how much an attribute is shifting by purchasing a specific item. Namely, by holding ALT, you can now see how much mana and mana regen you will get from an intelligence based item or how much armor you get from an agility attribute. Attack speed, damage bonus, health points and HP regen numbers are also listed in the expanded tooltip window.
For a better and easier understanding of the damage type existing on the battlefield, all abilities and items that deal damage are now color-coded red, blue and yellow according to whether the damage is Physical, Magical, or Pure.
Demo mode
Hero demo mode received several new features meant to ease and improve testing various spells, combos and items. Among the new added features in the demo mode are:
- Added controls to easily spawn allied heroes, in addition to enemies
- Added a control to reset a hero back to level 1
- Added a control to remove a hero once you're done testing
- Buttons for leveling, adding Scepter, adding Shard, and toggling invulnerability now apply to all currently selected heroes
- Added buttons to spawn the 6 major runes
User interface, gameplay, Dota Plus, cosmetics, hero and item tooltips or interaction bugs have received a massive brushing. All fixes can be found on the official Valve page dota2.com/springcleaning.
