After a long wait, some uncertainty on the date, and Valve inventing a whole new calendar (just when is June 39th?), Crownfall Act III is here. The update dropped at around 4 pm PDT, just as Valve’s Seattle offices were wrapping up for the day, and boy is it a big update.
Besides just adding a new map to progress through for Crownfall Act III, Valve has taken itself to add a fully functioning Street Fighter parody to their game called Sleet Fighter II, to celebrate the snowy climate of Crownfall Act III. They’ve also released 16 new Collector’s Cache Sets as voted for by players earlier in the year. And of course, a third comic in the Crownfall saga.
The Sleet Fighter II game is the immediate highlight, unlocked immediately, and with more features than it has any right to. Sleet Fighter II has full controller support, a half dozen characters, and multiplayer support. After just a few minutes, I’m already getting flashbacks to being bodied in Street Fighter 6 online lobbies, so I’ll put Sleet Fighter away for a bit…
The Crownfall Collector’s Cache sets are also suitably high quality, with some of the standouts of the voting making it through. We’re especially smitten with Ardalan Arms Race Snapfire, and the Ultra Rare Aberrant Observer Pudge with a huge eyeball and face in his gut. There’s also a chance to get the Fem Anti-Mage persona with the Proselyte of the Sakura Clan set.

And of course, there’s more fantastic pixel art for the Crownfall board itself. This one features the snow-covered Frosts of Icewrack, home to bouncer Tusk and Winter Wyvern, Crystal Maiden, and other chilling heroes. There are a few secrets to find, most animations and other details. There are two extra Pathfinder quests, The Lost Ziggurat and the Call of Ugnattu, and to grab these, you’ll need to purchase the Icewrack Pathfinder Pack.

Overall, once again Valve has pushed the envelope of what it offers with this kind of content. We were pleasantly surprised with the previous Crownfall updates, but this one is even better. Don't forget we also going live on our Crownfall's Act III Completion service, you can check it out here.
A post by Valve accompanying the release has also revealed that the event will now not end until October, so you’ve got a bit more time to play with it, including during the duration of TI13. And given the next Crownfall expansion will likely not drop until late August, that gives us plenty of time to grind those tokens before the showdown with Queen Imperia!
